i do this all the time... in fact all of us do this... we dont even think if we r right or wrong... n i think its a clear case of being prejudiced...

isnt this quote true?? how many times do we fall for this??? isnt it a kind of trap??? we fall into such a trap so easily... n its rarely that we can get out of it...
i have been through this many times... there is this neighbour of mine... a very beautiful lady... whenever i would meet her for a while she'd always talk about her kids n home n how her mother-in-law harassed her... n hit her... n abused her... n fought with her... id feel so sad for her... infact everyone around knew of her problems... and everyone would empathise... whenever i met her mother-in-law (after knowing this) i would never talk to her... if she spoke to me i would answer her in a syllable or a sentence n move away.... i would always wonder what sort of a person she was... i had heard awful stories about fights n abuses... n i was sure this lady would one day do something rash...
so now if we look at my thoughts here we'd definitely say i was prejudiced... thats simply because i never spoke to this mother-in-law... how do i know what kind of a person she is?... i know only the one sided story... couldn't it be the other way round where this 'beautiful' lady was fighting with her mother-in-law?? or abusing her???... how do we know whats going on in her house?? its simply a matter of being biased towards what i have heard... n also because she is 'beautiful'... well looks do matter somewhere i guess... i have met people around who say "shes so pretty how could she do nything wrong!!!"
but its been sometime since i know her... she speaks rotten about nyone and everyone... her next door neighbours dont speak to her... she fights with everyone around... n so now i know that somewhere she could also be wrong... i am not saying that shes the only one whos wrong... or her mother-in-law is always right... its just that we sometime think only from one perspective... n we should learn not to do that.. learn to think from all angles.. n last of all try not to come to conclusions without hearing the whole story out...

You should hear all the sides ie., frm everyone and then decide who u should talk to u and who is right and who is wrong!
I judged one of my friend wrong!thought she was right but she turned out to be a backbiter

I always, I mean always listen to both sides...if I dun get that opportunity, I never judge the other person based on just what the first person told me. Still it's so hard to be unbiased...cos like u said, if the first person is closer to u or prettier or more innocent-looking (here looks do matter like u said) or more convincing then u r bound to make that mistake of trusting the first person...
It's strange how u wrote abt prejudice today cos last night a simlar thing happened...I had to go visit one of my aunts as she had a fall recently...so I help her ard the house. When I went there, there was a major argument between her and her daughter's MIL (they live close by). I listened to both sides...one is saying she didnt say such a hurtful thing and the other was saying she did! LOL I was so lost not knowing who to trust and what to say. Finally I told them this...u both pray to God daily dun u...then why d u waste ur precious health and nergy on trying to be right...deep inside u both know what really happened...thats all that matters...
And to be honest, I didnt even take my aunt's side just cos she's my aunt...I wasnt at the scene that took place so how do I know what she's saying is true. Never take sides just cos u know someone more than the other...even if it's ur blood relative. And remember usually the wrong-doer is the first to complain :)

Yah, u r right. We shud know both the sides b4 forming an opinion, but it takes really long sometimes and there are multiple sides, not just 2.
I rather dont form any opinion at all. Being judgemental has its cons.
yup agree with st000nie cos we always try to believe the person who is closest to us...it's natural...so we need to train ourselves to be unbiased...it's hard but not unachievable.

i always try my best not to be prejudiced. from what little experience that i have, the prejudgements are usually dead wrong.we do tend to go prejudiced when we spy a person whose traits conflict with what we like, or sometimes we get conditioned for that prejudice thru others,like ur beautiful lady turning u against her in laws.this is one freaky world which can never be accurately predicted or modelled, at least not in a few hundred years,without external interference.
Ya but even then we sometimes (most times) judge people by their looks make judgements about other people just by listening about them from someone else.
Its just human nature.
