aamir khan… the well known actor… one day he speaks up against the narmada river dam and there is chaos everywhere… what is he asking??.. is he wrong?… he just wants proper rehabilitation of the farmers who are ousted from their lands because of the narmada dam… fine… that’s what he feels… others might feel differently… even they have a different point of view… agreed… but the way they r treating this difference of opinion is atrocious…
in gujarat they wont be showing his latest film ‘fanaa’… isn’t this the antithesis of democracy?… just because he had the guts to speak what he feels??… just because he is a well known person?… there r so many unknown people who r fighting for this cause day in n day out… do we know how they r suffering??… if aamir khan is being harassed so much I cannot even dare to imagine what has been the fate of these unknown people… medha patkar who is involved for the same cause was dragged by her hair in the 2002 riots!!!… what is happening to my gujarat?… the gujarat government is saying that they r doing this for the 5 crore gujaratis… aren’t the farmers gujaratis??.. don’t they live in gujarat??… ask the gujaratis themselves... no one really wants all this crap...
I am a gujarati too… n I think they are right in demanding proper rehabilitation for the poor farmers… this whole difference has taken a political turn… a sham in the name of ‘democracy’… I hope the central government will intervene… gujarat government today needs to be put in its place… they cant go on bullying everyone who fights against what they 'think' is right… the cases of aamir khan, medha patkar and mallika sarabhai r proof enough of the way they r trying to make a farce of ‘democracy’
as I said democracy - my foot!!! totally related to the way it is being treated in gujarat… n the hearts of gujaratis are bleeding at this gameplay of power!

Did u watch the special CNN IBN (or was it NDTV) live on Saturday where Amir Khan in Mumbai with a few spectators faced the BJP leaders n theatre association in their Gujrat studio.
Everyone (almost) supported Amir and the BJP leaders were made to swallow back their own words.
The theatre association president said 'as a movie can be released only on Friday, nothing can't be done now'. May be it wud open in Gujrat coming Friday.

i think its easy to sit mumbai and say democracy my foot(and at this point let me say that i am a aamir khan supporter) but gujrat Narendra Modi's word is the law and i am not just talking politically. I was there when gujrat riots happened in 2002 and let me tell u, inspite of the govt stage managing it Narendra Modi came out of it smelling of violets and roses,the true messiah of the people...
Most gujjus are devoted (veggie :D) hindus and they seem to think that Modi's word is the law...
So, it isn't just political, gujju's have a problem(they trust Modi)...
freedom of speech is not something alot of ppl respect...the harassment to Aamir and the banning of the movie in certain places in India, are the result of intolerance of another's experession. This is inbuilt in some ppl's blood and hard for us to explain to them w.o. big fights and chaos. Sad state indeed.
(Just what happened to me too after one of my recent posts..not a surprise how some ppl r too addicted to themselves and blinded by their own beliefs).
I hope this movie opens the eyes of many....

I suppose everyone-if s/he'really' believes in what s/he says gotta be willing to pay any price for her/his sayings/views/opinions. If democracy gives one the right to vies his/her opinion it gives the right to others to oppsoe his/her in any way as long as it's not beyond law. If I don't like what an actor says why should I not decide not to his movie and why should I be prevented from trying to stop others as well from seeing his movies? I got a right to hit the actor where it hurts him most.

I beg to differ.. Agreed amir ha a right to say what he wants and the theatre owners in gujarat too have the right. Remember that its not govt who has banned this movie. Theatre owners have decided not to screen this as they thought they can show their symbolic protest like that.. Lets not get acrried away by this "Gujarat Bashing" eveytime. Why are ppl not shouting abt "The vinci code" it also met the same fet after all, no? or is it becasue anythign and everythign that is related with Gujarat is a point of debate and opportunity to disparage gujaratis.. Dont you think being gujarati yourself you are playing in these ppl's hands? Think abt it... dont discard it as an anti democracy point of view...Gujaratis also have a right to show case their view point..
